The West Kootenay Watershed Collaborative hosts Suzanne Simard presenting Insights from The Mother Tree Project at the Capitol Theatre in Nelson Sunday January 26th 1.30 p.m. Thus event is vital for everyone who loves forests and drinks water. Dr. Simard, a professor of Forest Ecology at UBC and best-selling author leads a team of researchers on the Mother Tree Project, which brings together academics, governments, First Nations and forestry companies to test forest renewal practices. The goal is to learn how to create resilient forests and identify sustainable ways to manage them as the climate warms.
